Clean water is vital to our existence and well being, thus it should be managed properly to ensure its availability, quality, and quantity. With a large population and households which spread over many islands, Indonesia faces challenges in providing clean water to its people.

Based on recent study from the Ministry of Public Works BPPSPAM, about 56 million household (or, 83%) have not yet enjoyed clean water connection, and the government’s municipal water companies can supply only about 40% and 8% of urban and rural population, respectively.

In the light of this, the Government of Indonesia has been encouraging private sector to participate and invest in the processing and distribution of clean water.
